LG G5 modular smartphone with free battery cradle launched in India

LG G5, the company’s 2016 flagship modular smartphone, has been launched in India at Rs 52,990. Pre-orders for the phone have been live exclusively on Flipkart. Users who pre-booked LG G5 will get the companion device – the LG Cam Plus – free with the smartphone.

LG G5 is also the first flagship from the Korean company to feature a metal unibody design. The smartphone, launched at MWC 2016, is one of the most unique smartphones ever with a slide-out battery tray and option to add extra module for camera and other functions.

The modular slot in the LG G5 can be swapped for different modules which LG calls as Friends. LG has designed a CAM Plus, Hi-Fi and B&O Play modules.

The LG G5 features a 5.3-inch Quad HD display with always-on mode and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. LG G5 comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB expandable storage.

LG G5 is the only flagship to feature dual rear cameras. Interestingly, both the rear cameras work independently. The primary camera is a 16MP one while there is a second 8MP camera for wide-angle shots. LG has tuned its software for both the rear cameras to work independently.

LG G5 gets 2800mAh battery but can be expanded to 4,000 mAh with CAM Plus module. The smartphone is running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with its own UI on top.
