Dangal movie review: Aamir Khan owns 2016 with this victorious sports drama

Aamir Khan always does this.

Everybody with a smartphone had an opinion about 2016 (or how sh*tty a year it’s been), and barely a week before the end, he pops up out of nowhere and owns it. Going by the unanimous praise on social media and from fellow Bollywood celebrities, Dangal seems to be the film of the year.

A typical Aamir Khan film — by which we mean a film where his character takes precedence over the star (in Aamir’s films that’s always the case) — Dangal is directed by Nitesh Tiwari (of Bhootnath Returns and Chillar Party fame) and follows the life of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and how he trains his two daughters Geeta (Singh Phogat) and Babita in international wrestling.
