The CineMAA 2016 awards for 2015 were held in Hyderabad on Sunday, with Baahubali- The Beginning bagging most of the awards.
According to NDTV movies, Baahubali won 13 awards including the Best Film Award. While SS Rajamouli, was awarded with Best Director, Rana Dagubatti won the Best Actor in a negative role award for his role as ‘Bhallala Deva’ in the historical fiction.
The other big winners were Junior NTR, who bagged the Best Actor Award for the film Temper and Anushka, who won the Best Actress Award for her widely appreciated role as Rudramadevi.
Kortala Siva was awarded the Best Director (Jury) for his critically acclaimed Srimanthudu, while Allu Arjun was awarded for his role in Rudramadevi.
What came as a pleasant surprise was the Best Actress (Jury) Award that went to Charmee Kaur for her performance inJyothi Lakshmi. The actress was back in the limelight after quite some time.
The new comers to watch out from last year were Nagarjuna’s son, Akhil, who won the Best Debut Actor, along with Pragya Jaiswal who won the Best Debut Actress.
According to the IBT, the special part of the show was Chiranjeevi’s comeback. Many actors, including comedian Sunil, paid their tribute to the star who is set to return to the big screen for his 150th movie. The actor turned politician’s performance was tweeted widely as the event took place.
